Nolitan Opening Delayed Yet Again
At this point, another round of delays is par-for-the course for the swanky new hotel on the block. The Nolitan, which actually resides in Little Italy at 30 Kenmare Street, has been plagued by false-starts for almost a year already. Initial opening was originally slated for spring/summer 2010.

Our first unobstructed view of the two-faced building came back in September, when all the rotten wheat-pasted plywood was peeled away from the facade. At the time, reports surfaced that rooms would be available in early December and that Jimmy Bradley would helm a restaurant dubbed J&S Food Hall. Hype was at a fever pitch for a hot minute, then quickly faded. Of course it didn’t help matters when word leaked last month that Bradley was putting the venture on indefinite hold due to cancer treatment.

During the intervening period, other opening dates were also promised and then broken, usually at one month intervals. Initial launch was pushed back to February, then March, and now Hotel Chatter is reporting April 4 as likely candidate. A quick peek through the papered facade reveals a lobby amidst renovations and a red Nolitan-branded neon sign. Said neon is usually switched on throughout the day.

Meanwhile, we figured the QR code posted to the door would announce more detailed information about the establishment, but instead brings up a generic Google places page. Apparently it costs at least $325 per night to “become a Nolitan.” No thanks.
